The South Whatcom Library opened in April 2014 after a 3 year fundraising effort and remodel of an old horse barn in the Sudden Valley recreation corridor. This project was accomplished by the Friends of the South Whatcom Library’s many volunteers, donors and grantors.
The Whatcom County Library System (WCLS) delivers a full range of library services to the South Whatcom area. Visit the Whatcom County Library website or call 360-305-3500.
After a closure due to structural issues in the barn, the South Whatcom Library reopened in a temporary location in the Sudden Valley Adult Center. While the space is smaller, about 80% of the collection is available, and programming for children, teens and adults is continuing in the new space. Computers and Wi-Fi and a 3-D printer are available for public use.
Tuesday and Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Thursday and Friday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Friends have transitioned to a supporting role by providing funding for children, teen and adult programming, as well as other areas of sponsorship for this vital community service.
